An incredibly light addition to the inov-8 range, the X-Talon has quickly established itself up there with the Walsh Racer as a superb out and out fell racing shoe. Based on a new narrow last and with only 2 arrows of eva cushioning (inov-8's useful scale to indicate the level of under foot protection), the X-talon is very stable and gives great feedback from the ground. The upper is made from an extremely light mesh which drains well and is suprisingly robust. Along with super skinny 'cheesewire' laces (make sure you double tie them as they can come undone quite easily) this keeps the weight right down. A new outsole has also been developed with Inov-8s sticky rubber compound for better grip on wet rock. The studs are more widely spaced than the Mudclaw and Walsh soles to help shed mud although the studs are not as deep as on the previously mentioned shoes. Rumor has it this is the shoe that finally pursuaded Rob Jebb to accept Inov-8 sponsorship - can't be bad then!!!
